Raising Mentally Strong Kids
May 29, 2025This guide offers three simple tools to help children cope with anxiety:
- The Fear Ladder – Breaks down big fears into smaller, manageable steps. Parents start with mildly scary tasks and gradually move up as the child builds confidence.
- Deep Breathing Exercise – A calming technique where the child breathes in through the nose (like smelling a flower) and out through the mouth (like blowing out a candle). Practicing this together helps children learn to self-soothe.
- The Worry Scale – Encourages children to rate their anxiety from 1 (calm) to 10 (very anxious), helping them better understand and talk about their feelings.
